Hence the idea to pay homage to the old ‘Colones’ currency of El Salvador. This currency unfortunately no longer exists. In 2001 the Colon was replaced by the US Dollar. There are still old coins and notes around but they have become collectables. El Salvador became the first country to make Bitcon legal tender in 2021.
