South Carolina has become a destination for craft spirits enthusiasts in recent years, thanks to the state's growing community of talented distillers. From the Upstate to the Lowcountry, there are a variety of small-batch distilleries creating unique, high-quality spirits that showcase the flavors of the region.
It’s a story that started like any other. Two people (Jim and Scott) met through work (the wine business), became friends, and then came up with a crazy idea to go into business together, but not the wine business, their idea was a bit more spirited. And so, Firefly was born. The Distillery truly is a family affair with Ann’s son Jay Macmurphy leading the charge forward as head distiller. Jay is full of ideas, so keep an eye on him - he’s always cooking up something new in the still.
Located in the heart of historic downtown Charleston, SC, High Wire Distilling Company is dedicated to making premium, small-batch spirits. Our approach is simple: seek the finest ingredients available and develop recipes using a creative, culinary approach. All of our products are batch distilled in a hand-hammered, German copper still to create the finest Southern spirits available.
We began in the years surrounding the Civil War, the days of plantation life, and delved deeper into the 20th century, including a stop on the polo grounds in Old Westbury on the North Shore of Long Island in New York. Our discoveries include those of tragedy and jubilation; the demise of Lowcountry plantations, the rise of new industries, and the advent of private hunting and sporting clubs. All before developers swooped in and began building gated communities with private golf courses. We even explored the real stories behind local legends as they navigated through the Lowcountry’s deep and rich history surrounding Burnt Church Road.
The question, “Where does a name like Burnt Church Road come from?” drove us to embark on this multi-year journey.
Palmetto Distillery is a labor of love for Trey and Bryan Boggs. The two brothers and entrepreneurs from Upstate SC are dedicated businessmen with a taste for whiskey. Southern to the bone, the brothers have a strong dedication to their craft and a passion for keeping their heritage alive through the spirits they create.
At Striped Pig Distillery we do things the “Southern Way” – it’s about innovating and pushing boundaries while honoring traditional methods; making fine spirits; and above all else, sharing with great friends.

The tongue-in-cheek story of our eponymous pig celebrates the tradition of the American spirit and the witty nature of those determined to share a tipple or two (despite whatever tax or reform is thrown their way)
